Burbank Public Library Young Adult Services presents a Burbank TEEN Reads Contest!

October 1-31, 2010
Teens in Grades 6-12
Mastermind a Murder Mystery!
Scribble a Sleuth Story!
Write a Who Dunnit!
We’re looking for suspenseful stories…set in Burbank!
  • Who slew the San Fernando Road Starbucks barrista and left only his apron to tell the tale?
  • Who is hiding stolen treasure among the stacks at the Northwest Library?
  • What do those slightly scary 11th-grade twins have in their backpacks, and what does it have to do with the statue missing from the quad at Burroughs High?!

Write a mystery story that takes place in a Burbank setting. Pen two to five pages (typed, or handwritten—neatly!) and turn it in at the Reference Desk of any Burbank Public Library—OR attach it to an email and send it by October 31 to mystify_me@earthlink.net.
Burbank Public Library staff will read your stories and select three top writers,
who will read their stories aloud for our new teen blog! (If you’re too shy, you can designate another reader…) In addition, there will be PRIZES for first, second and third place, and two honorable mentions. GOOD LUCK, mysterious scriveners!

Winners will be notified by November 12
(Extra credit may be given at your teacher’s discretion.)
