Sustainabilty Showcase - BWP's Electric Car on display and more!

John Joyce of Burbank Water and Power had a busy day showing off the City's specially converted Toyota Prius which is now a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) that showcases how a vehicle can get upwards of 100 miles per gallon of gas. He also was gathering signatures for a petition to US auto manufacturers to encourage them to make such vehicles available to the general public. If you are interested in more information about BWP's PHEV or want to sign the petition then do stop by Burbank Water and Power’s (BWP) lobby or visit the BWP website.
Also available from the BWP staff manned tables at the showcase were information handouts and free CFL's [compact fluorescent light bulbs] to all who attended.

Event Recap - Plug In America!

Last night we had a very "plugged in" audience for our speakers, Alexandra Paul and Paul Scott, from Plug In America who showed excerpts from the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car? and then spoke about the future of such cars and then fielded many thoughtful, excellent questions from the audience.

Certainly has me thinking about how such vehicles fit into my future.

Both the DVD of Who Killed the Electric Car? and the featured book, Plug-In Hybrids by Sherry Boschert are owned by your library so stop by, check them out and we hope to see you at an upcoming program!
